<details>

<summary>Where can I add rooms to my request?</summary>

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where can I add my space program/requirements?</summary>

The space program can be added in the Preference tab. You can also upload a brief document and laiout will extract your requirements automatically using Brief Autofill.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I import my space program using Brief Autofill?</summary>

Yes. Upload a brief document such as a PDF, image, DOCX, or CSV and laiout will read it, extract the requirements automatically, and populate your preferences for you. Uploaded briefs work across multiple languages and various formats. Once the requirements have been extracted, you can review them, edit anything you want to change, and then generate. This removes the manual step of copying details from a brief into laiout by hand.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What file formats does Brief Autofill support?</summary>

Brief Autofill supports PDFs, images, DOCX documents, and CSV spreadsheets. If your file is any of these formats, laiout can read it and extract your requirements automatically.

**Video guide:** [laiout - Brief Autofill](https://youtu.be/Y6F60_2LFoI)

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I upload my brief to laiout?</summary>

You can either drag and drop the file directly into the Preferences panel, or use the file picker to select it from your computer. Both methods work the same way.

**Video guide:** [laiout - Brief Autofill](https://youtu.be/Y6F60_2LFoI)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I review and edit the extracted preferences before generating?</summary>

Yes. Once Brief Autofill has extracted your requirements from the uploaded document, they appear in the Preferences panel for you to review. You can adjust any preference before pressing Generate, exactly as if you had entered them manually.

**Video guide:** [laiout - Brief Autofill](https://youtu.be/Y6F60_2LFoI)

</details>

<details>

<summary>What kind of briefs work best with Brief Autofill?</summary>

Brief Autofill is designed to be flexible and works with a wide range of formats. Structured briefs tend to give the cleanest extractions, but the system handles plain-text briefs, tables, and mixed formats too. If you would like example briefs to compare against your own, get in touch with the laiout team.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I combine an uploaded brief with manually set preferences?</summary>

Yes. Brief Autofill and manual preferences are not mutually exclusive. You can upload a brief to get started and then adjust or add to the extracted preferences by hand before generating, or start with manual preferences and add a brief later.

**Video guide:** [laiout - Brief Autofill](https://youtu.be/Y6F60_2LFoI)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Does Brief Autofill work with briefs in different languages?</summary>

Yes. Brief Autofill supports briefs written in multiple languages and is designed to extract detailed requirements regardless of language.

<details>

<summary>Can I add more space typologies with same number of people but different size?</summary>

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I add spaces not on your list?</summary>

Yes, through custom zone kinds. Your organisation can define its own zone types beyond the default list, such as a Cinema Space, Gym, or Storage area. Once a custom zone kind has been created, it becomes available in the Preferences panel and can be requested before generation just like any default zone. If you need a space that hasn't been set up yet, you can either create a new custom zone kind first, or add it after generation by editing the floor plan directly. See [Zone Editing Overview](/editing-your-layout/zone-editing-overview.md) for the full custom zone kinds workflow.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I add custom zones to my request?</summary>

Yes. Any custom zone kinds already created for your organisation can be added to your preferences and requested before generation. Set the area you want for each instance, and laiout will generate them into your layout automatically. If you need to create a new custom zone kind first, click on any zone while editing your floor plan, select the change icon, and choose Custom to define a new one. See [Zone Editing Overview](/editing-your-layout/zone-editing-overview.md) for the full workflow.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I change my input?</summary>

Open the Preferences tab from the left panel, then adjust any input directly. Changes take effect the next time you generate, so you can iterate on your requirements without needing to start again.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I edit my request?</summary>

**Video guide:** [laiout lessons - How to set & adjust advanced floorplan preferences](https://youtu.be/2GQkj6Zx_hA)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I change preferences after generating?</summary>

**Video guide:** [laiout lessons - How to set & adjust advanced floorplan preferences](https://youtu.be/2GQkj6Zx_hA)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I save my preferences somewhere?</summary>

The preferences are saved on the floor plan once clicked on Apply in the Preferences tab.

**Video guide:** [laiout lessons - How to set & adjust advanced floorplan preferences](https://youtu.be/2GQkj6Zx_hA)

**Video guide:** [laiout lessons - How to set & adjust advanced floorplan preferences](https://youtu.be/2GQkj6Zx_hA)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I save my preferences as a template?</summary>

Yes. You can copy and reuse your floorplan criteria across floors and projects using the copy preferences feature. This lets you duplicate your preferred setup (room types, quantities, density targets, desk types) and apply it to other floors or buildings in seconds, maintaining consistency across your portfolio without re-entering settings each time.
